About the role
SEWB Support Workers are responsible for providing support in the delivery of Social & Emotional Wellbeing care to referred clients for mental health & substance misuse. The SEWB Support Worker will focus on providing support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients to strengthen their wellbeing in a variety of ways including connection to health and other external services and culturally appropriate activities. This full time position is available at our Coomera clinic.
What you'll be doing
- Provide cultural and social emotional support to clients experiencing mental health and/or substance misuse issues
- Work collaboratively with the Social & Emotional Wellbeing Care Coordinator, co-managing a caseload of clients
- Facilitate and co-facilitate groups
- Support the goals of the client ensuring the goals are focused on building resilience and capacity of the client
- Work in a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic and client centered approach to clients mental health and substance misuse issues
- Contribute to case reviews.
About You
You’re someone who:
- Builds strong, respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
- Ideally brings experience in the delivery and care coordination services for mental health, alcohol and other drugs or other social supports
- Is passionate about making a positive impact and supporting others with heart and purpose.
Essential selection criteria
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and ability to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
Requirements
- A Blue Card for working with children ('No Card No Start' policy applies)
- National police check
- Current drivers' license.
- *IDENTIFIED POSITION - To perform this role it is essential that the person who holds the position be an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 that applicants are Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders. A Confirmation of Aboriginality will need to be provided.
