Job Description

Kalwun Development Corporation Ltd is an Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander community controlled organisation currently seeking to fill the following vacancy within our Health and Wellbeing Services division. Kalwun Health and Wellbeing Service delivers a primary health care service to the people of the Gold Coast & surrounding communities.

About the Role
The Program Manger (Deadly Choices) is responsible for working with our Deadly Choices staff to market, implement, and evaluate programs and activities that will reduce chronic disease factors, to lead smoking cessation and improve levels of nutrition and increase physical activity. With a focus on schools and community programs, the role leads a team of Deadly Choices Program Officers. This role is full time, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work for events. 

Position Duties

  • Deliver the Deadly Choices program
  • Coordinate and deliver programs such as Good Quick Tukka, Work Out Program, and community event days
  • Provide input into a structured plan for program delivery and quantitative and qualitative performance targets
  • Maintain the master schedule of school programs, community days and training days
  • Work with stakeholders including IUIH regarding marketing campaigns
  • Actively foster productive working relationships with local networks, government departments, other service providers and suppliers to promote the CCHS and remain abreast of emerging issues
  • Continuous improvement of the Deadly Choices education program modules, training resources, and materials
  • Develop effective partnerships with local schools to facilitate the DC program
  • Work closely with Kalwun Health clinics for delivery of CCHS.

Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrated ability to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, respecting traditional culture, values and ways of doing business
  2. Demonstrated understanding of the heath, social and emotional wellbeing needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  3. Interpersonal and communication skills that demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and liaise with clients and members of the community in the provision of professional quality client service
  4. Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, deliver and evaluate health promotion programs to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander target groups
  5. Minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary teams and mentoring staff

Additional Information

  • This position requires the successful applicant to satisfy a national criminal history check and hold a current drivers' license.
  • A Blue Card for working with children is a mandatory requirement. The 'No Card No Start' law applies to this position - a Blue Card must be obtained prior to commencement.

It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 that applicants are Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders.
