About the Role

We’re looking for a strong, culturally grounded Team Leader to guide our dedicated Intensive Family Intervention team. You’ll support practitioners working alongside families to prevent child removal, support reunification, and strengthen kinship and cultural connections. This isn’t just a leadership role — it’s a chance to influence change, mentor others, and walk alongside families through powerful moments of growth and healing.
Position Duties
- Provide day-to-day leadership, practice guidance, and reflective supervision to TFIS team members
- Monitor program delivery to ensure alignment with service models, cultural frameworks, and funding outcomes
- Assist with intake, referral allocation, and workload management across the team
- Lead program reporting, continuous improvement, and stakeholder feedback processes
- Build relationships with Elders, community members, and cultural advisors to strengthen program delivery
- Represent the program in key forums with Child Safety, ACCOs, schools, and health services
- Guide team understanding of intergenerational trauma, culturally safe healing, and early intervention approaches.
Selection Criteria
- Formal qualifications in Social Work, Community Services, or a related field is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultures, kinship systems, and community dynamics
- Demonstrated leadership or senior practice experience in child and family support, reunification, or child protection
- Proven ability to guide staff in trauma-informed, culturally responsive practice
- Experience supervising staff and managing service delivery outcomes
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and advocacy skills
- Ability to work flexibly, including outreach, after-hours where required

Additional Information
- This position requires the successful applicant to satisfy a national criminal history check and hold a current drivers' license.
- A Blue Card for working with children is a mandatory requirement. The 'No Card No Start' law applies to this position - a Blue Card must be obtained prior to commencement.
- As this is a risk-assessed role under the Child Protection Act 1999, the successful applicant will be required to obtain a LCS2 clearance withing 3 months of commencing employment.
