Kalwun Development Corporation Ltd is an Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander community controlled organisation currently seeking to fill the following vacancy within our Child, Youth and Family Support Services division. The Kalwun Child, Youth and Family Support Services division administers the Family Wellbeing Service, Family Participation Program, Early Learning Program and the Kinship and Foster Care programs within the South East Qld region.

About the Role
Kalwun’s Empowered and Connected Families Program champions the safe care and connection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children with their families, kin, communities, and culture. You’ll be the backbone of policy management, working with a team of trailblazers focusing on enhancing effectiveness in maintaining strong cultural connections within families and ensuring that families have a voice whilst enabling self-determination. As a Policy Officer you will provide timely, accurate, and persuasive advice, underpinned by analysis, contextual awareness and stakeholder consultation. This position is full time for six months.
Position Duties
- Work alongside the Executive Lead in the design and development of the Kalwun Empowered and Connected Families program to implement Delegated Authority.
- Work closely in partnership the Kalwun Child, Youth and Family Services team, and the Department of Children Safety to develop Kalwun’s Empowered and Connected Families framework and operating manual; and
- Develop the tools and resources to support Kalwun’s Empowered and Connected Families to implement Delegated Authority across the Gold Coast.
Essential Selection Criteria
- Knowledge and experience working with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community-Controlled sector.
- Demonstrated experience in a Policy Officer role.
- Extensive experience in stakeholder engagement and co-design methodologies.
- Highly developed conceptual, strategic, and analytical skills.
- Experience in preparing high level documents, including program frameworks, project plans, briefs, and submissions.
- Demonstrated experience of delivering projects with limited resources and tight timeframes to a high standard.

- As this is a risk-assessed role under the Child Protection Act 1999, the successful applicant will be required to obtain a LCS2 clearance withing 3 months of commencing employment.
