Job Description

Kalwun Development Corporation Ltd is an Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communitycontrolled organisation currently seeking to fill the following vacancy within our Health and Wellbeing Services division. Kalwun Health and Wellbeing Service delivers a primary health care service to the people of the Gold Coast & surrounding communities.

About the Role

The Research Officer will play a key role in the design, coordination, and delivery of research and evaluation activities across a range of programs. The role will involve collecting and analysing data, supporting the development of project reports and knowledge translation materials, and working closely with project leads and the community. This position is part time role, fixed term until the end of 2026, and will be based at Coomera Clinic.

Position Duties

  • Coordinate and manage research projects including administration, ethics submissions, data collection oversight and reporting
  • Conduct or support yarning interviews with clients and staff in both individual and group settings
  • Recruit and consent participants and collect survey data in clinical and community settings
  • Analyse qualitative data including transcription, coding, and interpretation
  • Attend meetings and public events to promote research activities
  • Support the development and implementation of knowledge translation strategies and public presentations
  • Contribute to ethics applications, protocol development, and quantitative data analysis as required
  • Attend relevant research skills development training
  • Adhere to all relevant Kalwun policies, safety procedures, and confidentiality obligations

Essential Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrated experience in coordinating and delivering research projects
  2. Strong time and project management skills
  3. Familiarity with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander research methodologies and a commitment to community governance
  4. Ability to work independently and in a team within a flexible and fast-paced environment
  5. High-level written and verbal communication skills
  6. Knowledge of qualitative research methods and experience using NVivo (desirable)
  7. Culturally respectful approach to working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  8. High level of professional integrity and commitment to confidentiality

Additional Information

  • This position requires the successful applicant to satisfy a national criminal history check and hold a current drivers' license.
  • A Blue Card for working with children is a mandatory requirement. The 'No Card No Start' law applies to this position - a Blue Card must be obtained prior to commencement.
