Job Description

Kalwun is an Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander community controlled organisation providing a range of services including primary health care, child and family services, community care services and also the management of the Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre. We are seeking a Finance Officer (Accounts Payable Specialist) to join our Finance and Corporate Services division.

The Finance Officer (Accounts Payable) provides high-level accounts payable support and contributes to ensuring the smooth operation of the company, consistent with its Vision and Values. The primary focus of this role is to process accounts payable transactions as well as perform additional finance tasks as a support to the finance team. 

The position’s set hours and days have some flexibility and will be discussed at interview stage. We are open to both Part time and Full time candidates however part time candidates would ideally be available 25 hours per week with available on a Thursday and Friday.

Position Duties

  • Accounts Payable End-to-end management including but not limited to setting up new suppliers, maintaining supplier records, seeking invoice approvals, and generating payment files.
  • Attending to all internal and external Accounts Payable enquiries (both phone and email)
  • Supplier engagement including discrepancy / dispute resolution.
  • Supplier invoice / details verification, ensuring company policy / standards compliance.
  • Processing of accounts payable transactions, including data entry, invoice processing, supplier account reconciliation, ensuring accuracy at all process stages.
  • Maintaining organised paperless filing and archiving systems for easy retrieval of records.
  • Assistance with processing & reconciliation of:
    • corporate card transactions 
    • petty cash transactions 
  • Proactively identify areas for process improvement and contribute ideas to enhance systems and workflows.
  • Provide administrative backup support as required.
  • Provide support to other areas of the finance team as required.
  • Delivering efficient processing of transactions whilst ensuring a high level of accuracy and compliance with technical requirements.

 

Essential Selection Criteria

  1. Extensive Accounts Payable experience using accounting software (MYOB preferable)
  2. MS Office suite experience (Intermediate level or above)
  3. Solid understanding of financial / bookkeeping practices
  4. Demonstrated previous experience in a similar role – specifically the ability to accurately process transactions in a high-volume and time-sensitive environment.
  5. Attention to detail and ability to multitask whilst maintaining a high level of quality.
  6. Demonstrated well developed interpersonal & communication skills.
  7. Ability to manage suppliers / internal stakeholders whilst resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  8. Provide a proactive approach to task resolution.
  9. Ability to be flexible and adaptable to work in a high volume, deadline driven environment.
  10. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
